Tap TOUCH (or press Space) to reach for the wall.
Analogue version
- Finish 10s: swimmers sprint the last 10 m into the wall 6 times. A partner watches: did they glide in, or hit the wall at full stretch?
- Head down: no looking up or breathing in the last 5 m. Look at the wall through the goggles.
- Backstroke: count strokes from the flags to the finish, and practise the reach overhead.
Coach notes Coaches only
- The model: each stroke puts a hand forward at full reach for a moment. Reaching with a hand that is already forward is quick. Reaching from too far out means gliding slowly into the wall; leaving it too late jams you (short, bent-arm touch).
- Best moment: when the forward hand will just hit the wall at full stretch. Sometimes that means one more fast stroke, sometimes an early lunge.
- Rules: breaststroke and butterfly finish with two hands at the same time; backstroke on the back; freestyle any part of the body.
- Stars: average time lost per finish compared with the best possible touch. 3 stars = under 0.08 s, 2 stars = under 0.2 s.
