Race Pacing

You have one tank of energy for the whole race. Choose your effort for each section, sit in the pack to save energy, and have enough left for the finish.

Energy after your plan

Analogue version

Print a pacing plan for this level. Swimmers choose an effort for each section and track their energy on paper, then compare with the game. Before a real race, use it to write a plan, then compare it with the actual splits.

Coach notes Coaches only

  • The model: faster efforts cost much more energy than they gain in speed (Sprint costs over 3× Easy for about 30% more speed). Hard and Sprint also add fatigue that makes every later section cost more. So going out too hard is punished, like in a real race.
  • Pack: choosing the pack's effort while you are with it costs 30% less (drafting). Going harder than the pack leaves it; easier drops you. Once you are more than 3 seconds away you lose the draft.
  • Live levels (6–7): swimmers only see each section as they reach it, like a real race. Talk about having a plan and adapting it.
  • Stars: compared with the fastest possible plan (every combination is checked). 3 stars = within 1%, 2 stars = within 2%.
  • The best plan for each level shows in the answer panel under the game.
